Our Commitment to Research Participants
All studies conducted under Emotion Encoded are independent and adhere to internationally recognized ethical standards in psychological research. Participation is entirely voluntary, and all participants provide informed consent. Confidentiality and anonymity are strictly maintained in accordance with APA ethical principles. While St. Kitts & Nevis does not currently have a formal research ethics board, all research protocols are designed to minimize risk and follow best practices for responsible human-subject research.
01 // Informed Consent
All participants in our surveys and interviews provided informed consent before their involvement. This means we clearly and transparently communicated the purpose of the research, what their participation would entail, and how their data would be used. Every participant had the right to ask questions and withdraw at any time without consequence.
02 // Transparency
We ensured that all participants were fully aware of the research's purpose: to explore how emotional reasoning, trust, and cognitive bias shape the adoption of AI systems. We believe that a clear understanding of the research helps individuals provide more thoughtful and valuable insights.
03 // Regional Value
Our research participants and survey respondents were valuable individuals from the Caribbean and Caribbean Diaspora. Their unique insights and perspectives are central to our work, and we recognize the importance of their experiences in shaping a more comprehensive understanding of AI perception.
04 // Confidentiality
Personal details are treated with strict confidentiality. Any data used is anonymized to protect privacy. The only exception is when a participant has given explicit consent for their name or picture to be used, in which case we will honor their request.
